Elon Musk’s relentless pursuit of AI innovation took a significant leap with xAI, his latest venture, after securing $500 million in funding. In December, Elon Musk’s xAI told the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) about its ambitious plan to raise $1 billion through equity offerings.

Recent updates from Bloomberg indicate xAI achieved half the milestone on Friday by raising $500 million and is currently poised for a $5 – $10 billion valuation. This underlines the confidence in Musk’s vision on the heels of his exploits in AI, notably marked by the launch of Grok, the AI model he introduced in July 2023.

Elon Musk’s foray into artificial intelligence with Grok didn’t just spark news of an AI breakthrough but ignited an epic roast battle between OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and Grok’s Elon Musk.

Sam Altman couldn’t resist taking a jab at Grok’s comedic prowess. OpenAI mockingly dismissed Grok’s jokes as feeble attempts of  “your dad’s daddy” to crack ribs.

The jests and jabs between both titans showcased a unique AI facet: its ability to craft comedy. Take, for instance Grok’s recent roast of the World Economic Forum’s Chairperson Klaus Schwab.

Musk’s Concerns with AI

In the wake of xAI’s equity fundraising, the Tesla CEO still issued a stark warning about the dangers of Artificial Intelligence. His concerns included AI infiltration into computer networks, the rise of intelligent weaponry, and the lurking threat of human replacement in the workforce.

Elon Musk’s active advocacy against these potential pitfalls emphasizes the collective urgency for conscientious development practices to harness the benefits of AI while mitigating the risks.

25% Stake or no AI for Tesla

The Tesla and SpaceX boss sent shockwaves on Twitter last Tuesday after threatening to withdraw AI innovations from the electric car manufacturer unless the board accepted his demand for a 25% increase in his stake.

Taking to Twitter to clarify his intentions, Musk conveyed his discomfort with the prospect of scaling Tesla into a prominent leader in AI and robotics without securing a significant 25% voting control.

Several X users pointed to Musk’s demand as pivotal in ensuring Tesla’s dominance in the evolving field of AI and robotics.

The xAI funding milestone became even more crucial after Musk made headlines when he unabashedly told advertisers to “go *uck yourself” in response to their threats of leaving the platform. This resulted from what many regarded as antisemitic remarks made by Musk on X.com, setting off a wave of discontent among advertisers.
